Caravan...

Since so many of you have been willing to go the extra mile for your friendly neighbourhood Boob Lady with the Apple Jacks thing, I was hoping that I could send some of you on a hunt for me.

Think of it as your deed as a good citizen of the blogging world.

They're like the Sasquatch, or Nessie.

So far, elusive.

But we know they're out there! I swear!

My Mema and I have been on a hunt for these frigging candy bars for ages now.

This little piece of heaven was my raison d'ĂȘtre.

The last time we found them at the grocery store, we bought a case.

They're that good!

They didn't last long.

Please, I beg of you.

Look around, check the corner stores and bodegas, rob old people, do whatever it takes to find one of these puppies.

If you don't eat them first, which you probably will, please tell me, I'll do anything.

ANYTHING.

*There will be a reward offered for anyone who finds the first dozen Caravan bars.*

Are they a Canadian thing? I have never heard of them.

I love coming to your blog and learning French. Ok, knowing it looks a lot like French anyway.

Lynda: They might just be Canadian. I don't know. I'm putting my plea out there just in case. They're amazing. Caramel and Vanilla Creme in a chocolately square. I'm drooling like Homer right now...

And yes! It is French! I'm fluently bilingual!

I'll see what I can do. I know I could hook you up with the Apple Jacks if no one else goes through with it. I like this kind of scavenger hunt, especially since it involves tasty food. Good luck!

tex: God love ya! Tasty food rocks.

Have you ever had a Crunchy candy bar? They are made by Cadbury and are so freaking good... I've only ever seen them in Europe...

Erica: Do you mean the bar with the yellow sponge toffee on the inside smothered in chocolately goodness???

Sorry, I've never heard of these, and I spent 10 years in the retail food business...

I'll search for them anyway. Anything for you, Boob Lady!

Here's what I could find:

"On June 29, 1987, Hershey Canada purchased the assets and trade-mark rights of Nabisco Brands Ltd.'s Canadian confectionery and snack nut businesses. These businesses included candy sold under the brands OH HENRY!, EAT-MORE, GLOSETTE and LOWNEY, hard roll candy sold under the brand names LIFE SAVERS and BREATH SAVERS, peanuts and...

It seems that Hershey's suspended the production of the majority of its acquisitions. The Lowney chocolate factory in Montreal has been abandoned for some time now. However, I did find a candy wholesaler in Canada who has listed on their site boxes of something called BAR CARAVAN. Check it out: http://www.trecartinwholesale.com/confectionary.htm. Good luck.

I had never heard of them, either. For me, sadly, a Caravan is either a minivan or a long line of people on the interstate traveling together with CD radios.

None of these mental pictures do a thing for my appetite!

I will keep my eyes open for you, tho!!

Pezda: Thank you! I shall do more research!

anon: haha. I know what you mean. A mini van doesn't make my mouth water. Thanks for keeping your eyes peeled! ;)
